About Mike

I first came to the Columbia Valley as a visitor. Like a lot of people, I fell in love with the place and eventually decided to build a life here.

Over time, Radium became much more than somewhere I spent time. I built a business here, became part of the community, and learned how much small towns depend on the people who show up for them.

I’ve spent 17+ years as a community-minded entrepreneur, almost 10 years serving in local government, and 12+ years living in the Columbia Valley. I was first elected to Radium Council in 2017 and elected Mayor in 2022.

I still work hands-on at Horsethief Creek Pub & Eatery. That keeps me close to the everyday realities of running a business, employing people, serving visitors, and hearing what residents are talking about.

Public service has also taken me beyond Radium. I represent the Village at the Regional District of East Kootenay and work with communities and organizations across the region. Those relationships matter because Radium gets more done when we have strong partners and a respected voice at the table.

In 2026, my colleagues from across the East Kootenay elected me Acting Chair of the Kootenay East Regional Hospital District. I’m proud of that trust. It gives me another opportunity to help strengthen healthcare planning and advocacy for our region, while bringing Radium’s perspective to a much larger table.

At the heart of it, though, I’m still someone who believes small communities work best when people know one another, listen to one another, and are willing to pitch in.
