What People Say

Local government is built on relationships, trust and the willingness to work through difficult issues together. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with residents, staff, community organizations and elected officials across the Columbia Valley and beyond. I’m grateful to the people who shared a few words about their experience working with me.

Steve Fairbairn, Mayor of Elkford

Having worked with, listened to, and learned from Mayor Gray over the last four years, I highly respect his thoughtful consideration of the issues and his love of Radium. He is a Mayor that I trust. Mike is a thoughtful and caring Mayor who gives careful consideration to the issues that he faces in his roles in Radium and in the Regional District. I have been honoured to work with Mayor Gray on the RDEK Board of Directors over the last four years. His is a voice I listen to and respect.

Gerry Taft, Councillor and former Mayor, Invermere. Columbia Valley Resident

Mike brings energy, preparation, and experience to the job of Mayor. As a former Mayor myself, I know how important experience is, not only understanding the issues, but knowing how to work with a council, work with staff, and collaborate across the region. Mike and I haven't always agreed on every issue, but I've seen firsthand his ability to put ego aside, focus on practical solutions, and get results.

Sarah Storey, 1st VP UBCM and Mayor, Village of Fraser Lake

Mike brings Radium’s voice to the provincial table. He has built relationships across British Columbia and consistently raises the issues that matter to his community, including forestry and health care. I’ve seen firsthand the energy and commitment he brings to advocating for Radium.

Lorie Jamieson, Former Village Staff, Columbia Valley Resident

In an era when effective, compassionate, and conscientious leadership is more vital than ever, keeping proven elected officials in office is critical. That’s why I am grateful that Mr. Mike Gray is running for re-election of his Mayoral position in Radium. As a previous Village of Radium employee, I had the opportunity to work with Mike in his roles as both Councillor and Mayor. He always insisted on all employees feeling respected and empowered, to fully contribute to our roles. Mike has always prioritized collaboration and communication and has a firm commitment to inclusivity of all.

Don McCormick, Mayor of Kimberley

Mike brings a natural curiosity to every conversation. He listens carefully, asks good questions and works to understand the heart of an issue. I’ve come to know him as a thoughtful leader and a trusted colleague who cares deeply about the community he represents.

Doug Clovechok, Former MLA, Columbia River Revelstoke

I worked with Mike on many files when I was your MLA for Columbia River Revelstoke. I can tell you that he really cares about folks and works really hard. Re—elect Mike should be Radium’s battle cry for the up coming municipal election
